When William was in Pre-k, a parent of one of his fellow students showed up to the class Christmas party with gifts for all of the children. This parent had bought (and elaborately wrapped) a Santa-themed apron and chef’s hat for each child. Looking back, I can’t help but wonder what this parent was thinking. Did she think this was protocol? Buying a gift for each child? Or maybe she just loves Christmas? I wonder if she was disappointed when none of the other children showed up with fancy gifts for her child. Hmmm.
We made our way home from the party that day and I asked William to try on his new apron. He was having none of it. Aprons were for GIRLS, didn’t I know? But because I am mean and love nothing more than torturing my children, I made him try it on and pose for a photo.
This is the result. Poor Will. He has a jerk for a mother.
That photo is now framed and has become source of much laughter. Plus, it reminds me to ease up a bit. Yeesh.
Well, at least I now ease up on my kids. The dog, however, is fair game.

That is one of the best Christmas photos I have ever seen. And wow for that parent giving that to each child.
